Talk:15 Monkeys - Main Page
From 15 Monkeys
[edit] The monkey shit's heavy
Why is all this heavy 'crap' on the frontpage ???!!!!
- “We are just like other primates in our behavior, instincts and emotions. The only difference is that we have cultivated the illusion that we are different from and even better than other animals.
- The viewpoint that we are just monkeys will give us better understanding and greater acceptance of our own and others' needs and behavior. It will give us full understanding of matters of social, cultural and psychological concern. And as a result the possibility to change them effectively. As in; We try to give animals in a zoo the best circumstances for them to express their natural behavior, why can't we do this for us naked apes?
- The goal of the 15 monkeys is to design our lives and our world in ways that allow us to express our natural behavior and fulfill our needs, ways that allow us to let out the monkey inside! To accomplish this we collect knowledge and ideas that help us understand ourselves and join forces with other people who support these and similar goals.”
If this point of view and the description of our goal with this website is supported by the other "monkeys", this is of course your good right, but I'm out!
I don't feel up to this kind of fanatic 'truth'-selling way of talking, nor can i agree with this 15 goal thing.
Every creature is made and shall live according to his nature....
Well, even human nature varies.
I've got the impression that I'd better stick to my own variety.

Hi Thistle (curious who you are)
First of all, I like this heavy 'crap'.
Second, it's on the frontpage because I didn't considered it enough to seperate it in different pages yet and I don't have content about many other, maybe more pleasant and positive, subjects yet.
Third, this is not really the viewpoint or goal of the 15 monkeys, it's just the 'crap' I like to write and think about and just happenned to have the inspiration for to start out with. It's not objective information nor supported or edited by anyone else than me (like I state in the disclaimer).
You're actually the first to comment on this stuff ever, so I will take my time to explain what I'm all about. Don't want you to be running away if you consider yourself one of the '15 monkeys'.
Actually I just started out to use this wiki like a sort of notebook (kladboek) and put anything on it that interests me. Because I finally had some inspiration and nothing was happening on the english and not much at the dutch wiki. Above that I'm one of the main persons Rowan had in mind when creating this wiki and the blog too, where on the english version me and him are so far the only contributors, where as for the dutch blog nothing has happened for a long time. Considering all this I think I have the liberty to put anything on it that I like, especially because I try to explain it to potential visitors. I'm planning to add to the content, add more subject and also chance the text along the way. I just recently changed everything for the 2nd or 3rd time just because my ideas on how to shape this wiki keep changing along the way.
Everything might have a 'truth selling' sound to it, like you say, but that's because in the first place it's just opinions and second because I'm a, like Rowan calls it, 'preachers son' 'dominees zoon'. You should hear the way our old man talk, hahaha.
- ‘Every creature is made and shall live according to his nature....
- Well, even human nature varies.
- I've got the impression that i better stick to my own variety.’
You're off course absolutely right! I'm not trying to say we should find ways, let alone 'a way' to all live by. What I'm trying to say is that our lives and society in general is not made to let out or stimulate our human nature, let alone our varietes in nature. I want to liberate myself from this imprisonment as much as possible, and live a live that suits our needs. But shit has to change to be able to do that because there just isn't much liberty to live the life you want, raise your children the way you want or even eat what you want. At least I should find other people to do things with, because being a hermit just plain sucks.
But most importantly we're not free to think what we want to think because we get indoctrinated from birth by power-structures that spread memes. I want to replace these memes (ideas and such) by other ones. But to do that effectively we need other ones that set us free, that give us back our lives as human beings with healthy behaviour. But those have to be ways of looking at things that feel better to us, that we like more. Stuff that doesn't scare us but gives us confidence instead. So when you say this stuff sounds heavy and 'truth selling' it's probably not the right way to say things. Or it might be, but not on the frontpage right in your face. The frontpage should look attractive, it should look inspiring and maybe even funny, because I like making fools of stuff. (I will put some of my monkey cartoons on soon)
I hope this explains a bit. When you want to contribute to this wiki I hope you will. You're free to change anything you want, put on new subjects, change the whole page, make new pages, move my crap to another page, whatever. Just be a little careful with deleting my crap because that would kinda hurt my ego ;) rather move it to another page. And when you don't know how or don't want to touch my things or just don't feel like it, just give me your suggestions and I will take them seriously. I hope you will. Because comments inspire, as you can see...

Hey Thistle-bitch! It's a wiki, so you can get in and out whenever you fucking please.
You say:
- “If this point of view and the description of our goal with this website is supported by the other "monkeys". What is of course your good right., I'm out!”
So get the fuck out then; I happen to be at least partly inspired by what MonkeyBoy did with the front page. Please stick to your “own variety”. We'll have plenty of fun without you.

[edit] Politically incorrect little note
I like politically incorrect people. A lot. I recently found a book called 'The no asshole rule' being the true consumerist that I am I had to buy it. It basically refers to not allowing assholes to terrorize an organisation. The writer of this little book defines some of the common activities assholes amuse themselves with: Personal insults, invading one's personal territory, uninvited physical contact, threats and intimidation (both verbal and nonverbal), sarcastic jokes and teasing used as insult delivery systems, withering email flames, status slaps intended to humiliate their victims, public shaming or status degradation rituals, rude interruptions, two-faced attacks, dirty looks and treating people as if they are invisible. I absolutely love when an academic is politically incorrect but I also like how applicable this material is outside an organisational context. I personally think that not only should assholes be fired from any organisation they wreck havoc in, we should also kick their proverbial ass cheeks in general society. We seem to have far too much patience for assholes. The end
